First and foremost I am the proud mother of beautifully angelic twin daughters. They are now three years old and I am in awe each and every day of how big they are growing. My pregnancy was full of emotion and I can still picture them inside of me squirming around trying to find a spot of comfort. I experienced a few medical complications during my pregnancy that I could speak of.
I am currently an Elementary Education teacher and have been in this career for the past seven years. I have attended many workshops on writing and have become very knowledgeable in this area. I am constantly writing in-depth lesson plans to meet the needs of children, constructing narratives about each child's progression, and informing parents of our current curriculum overviews through newsletters.
In addition, I am pursuing a side career in photography. I am currently an assistant to a professional documentary wedding photographer in hopes that one day I can become her second shooter.
I currently write an article a day for Associated Content and love when my work is published. I am excited to broaden my writing experiences with Lifetips.

It is my purpose here on earth to lead others in the direction that they are seeking. I am here to help children and humankind no matter which way they are heading. Through writing, I hope to be an inspiration.

10 Tips from Jennifer Hewes
Teaching Your Toddler Letter Sound Associations
Toddlers are just like sponges and soak up most information that is presented to them. When your toddler is just about two years of age, they probably will be able to recite their alphabet with either no or only a bit of assistance. Of course once they reach ‘LMNOP,’ they may become a bit confused, but they will be ready to learn the sounds that each letter makes. There are a variety of ways that you can introduce your toddler to these sounds, but one of the most innovative resources out there is the video entitled ‘Letter Factory.’ This video is only one of the creations made from the well known Leap Frog educational company. This video is intriguing to young children because the letters are animated and create the sounds in lively ways. Once your child watches this video, they will want to watch again and again. In this case, television plays an important part of your child’s development. The concepts that your toddler will learn while watching ‘Letter Factory,’ will be very beneficial. Of course it will be necessary to enrich your child’s learning by adding your own creativity. Soon your child will be well on their way to the first steps of reading.
Resources To Use When Teaching Your Preschooler How To Read
Once your child has mastered the sounds that each letter of the alphabet makes, it will be time to introduce your preschooler to the joy of reading. This is a very intimidating task to some parents; so many times they leave it up to the children’s school. Starting out with basic two- letter words is a necessary step for your child to understand the concept of stringing two letters together. A few wonderful resources that will help you teach your preschooler how to read include: Starfall.com, Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Easy Lessons, and a video produced by the Leap Frog company called Talking Words Factory. Taking your time and enriching your child’s learning is beneficial in this process. Playing flashcard games with simple words, reading easy readers, and finding educational board games will increase your child’s awareness of phonological sounds and will increase their interest in reading.
Help Your Child Reach Achieve Their Fullest Potential: Resources
Many people test their children to find out their IQ, especially if they notice that their children are incredibly smart. In hopes of finding out that their child is gifted, many people feel a tad bit disappointed when the results come back as average. Parents must realize that each and every child is gifted in their own individual way, even if their IQ’s do not indicate that. Children who read are often better equipped in school because of their broad knowledge of various topics. It is important as a parent to introduce your child to books of all genres and styles in order for them to reach their highest potential in school. It is also important for parents to explore various resources that are used for gifted children. Many gifted educational books are based on Bloom’s Taxonomy of Higher Level Thinking. This way of thinking should be taught to all children because it truly gets them to think outside of the box. Such resources can be found at prufrock.com, piecesoflearning.com, and by searching for gifted resources on the web.
Treating Raw Diaper Rashes
It is common for babies and toddler to experience diaper rashes. In some cases the diaper rash worsens and severely burns the baby. In this case, parents must quickly take action to help the distressed bottom. Desitin will not likely heal such a rash, but there is an alternative treatment. Recommended by a pediatrician, the three ingredients that will work effectively to heal the rash are Desitin, oatmeal, and Maalox. Mixing these three products into a small bowl will make for a thick layer to spread upon the burn. This remedy will quickly alleviate the little one’s pain. The oatmeal is used to stop the itching and the Maalox is used to relieve the burning skin and to neutralize the acidity. This diaper rash mixture has been known to work wonders in a matter of hours.
Donation of Diapers Idea For Your Baby Shower
Before the baby arrives, many parents begin to buy boxes of diapers while at their local grocery store to prepare for the bundle of joy. The trend has become more and more popular to ask for a donation of diapers at the baby shower to help the parents stock up. This idea has been successfully used time and time again. On the baby shower invitation, it can be simply worded: ‘For every box of diapers that you donate at the baby shower, your name will be entered into the Gift Basket.’ By placing the word ‘Optional,’ before the verse, people will not feel obligated to bring a box of diapers along with their present. The Gift Basket can consist of a massage gift certificate and a bottle of wine. Perhaps it could include a pair of movie tickets and a restaurant gift certificate. For the small price of the Gift Basket, parents could take home hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of diapers for their new baby.
Practical Clothing For Your Little One
Chances are that toddlers will make a mess while at the restaurant, at the beach, or at the family function. Rather than trying to scrub the Chocolate Cherry ice cream stain or remembering to bring numerous changes of clothing, purchasing some clothing from Right Bank Babies would be wise. This unique clothing line offers outrageous styles to match the personality of every child. The best part of this clothing line is that all of the clothes are reversible. In an instant, parents could turn that Jello Jiggler stain inside out. The reversible clothes come in various styles such as rompers and dresses. The prices are bit pricey, but parents must remember that they are purchasing two outfits in one.
How To Get the Rest You Need While Caring For Twin Infants
After bringing the twin babies home, parents will begin to realize what the word tired means. Exhaustion overcomes most mothers, but especially to those who bring home multiples. It is suggested that parents who bottle feed their twin babies should start a routine feeding schedule so that both the mother and father do not find themselves exhausted and depressed. By sleeping the twin babies in car seats, the parents can take shifts to feed the babies during the night. First the mother may begin the 9:00 p.m. feeding while using her right hand to feed the baby in the car seat to the right, and her left hand to feed the baby on the left. This will cut the feeding time in half and does not require the father to wake up and lose sleep. After the mother feeds both babies, she can change their diapers one at a time. When the twins are ready for their next feeding at 12:00 a.m., dad can take over this shift allowing the mother to sleep until the 3:00 a.m. feeding. This way the mother can sleep for a good five to six hours at a stretch. This routine can continue until the infants no longer need to be fed so often. Both parents will receive a sufficient amount of sleep each night so that they do not become stressed and exhausted
Proposing With the Perfect Bouquet
Proposing to the love of your life is a magical moment in time. Taking the time to plan the perfect proposal will take much deep thought and planning. A good start to planning this fairytale day would be to think about what kind of bouquet you would like to present your lover with. Flowers are very symbolic and it would surprise the woman of your dreams if you chose a bouquet that fit her personality and traits. For example, if you are marrying your high school sweetheart, the azalea is symbolic of ‘first love.’ If the woman that you are passionate about is tender to all who seek her friendship, the daisy would be perfect because it symbolizes gentleness. If the lady of your life first was your friend, a bouquet of jasmine would delight her. The jasmine flower represents friendliness and perhaps it is this trait that first attracted you to her. To learn more about flowers and their symbolism, take a trip to your local florist and they will be sure to help you find the perfect bouquet for your fiancé-to-be.
Jack and Jill Wedding Shower Rather Than a Bridal Shower
The Jack and Jill type wedding shower is perfect for those couples who want to celebrate their upcoming wedding in union with all of their family and friends. This also is a great party to have because the bride doesn’t have to be the main attraction. Hosting an outdoor Jack and Jill wedding shower is perfect because the couple can rent out a large pavilion, create tickets on the computer, and ask people to bring a dish for a potluck dinner. Rather than receiving luxurious towels or dinnerware that they would only use on Easter, the couples would sell tickets for about $10.00 per person and could go out and buy exactly what the want, save up for a honeymoon, or save the money in the bank for the purchase of their new home. To make the Jack and Jill even more exciting, couples could ask the wedding party to donate raffle gifts for the party. Setting up outdoor activities such as volleyball or waffle ball would make this party a hit!
Documentary Wedding Photographers Capture
Hiring a documentary wedding photographer is ideal for the couples who are uncomfortable posing for pictures. While many traditional photographers may ask couples to do zany things such as pose with the groomsmen while they pretend to kiss the bride, documentary wedding photographers don’t ask the couple to do a thing. Rather, they are there to document the day while they go unnoticed. It is most documentary wedding photographer’s philosophy to capture the events exactly as they unfold. The essence of the photographs should be natural and unplanned.
